Your local Extension Office is a tremendous resource for finding the information you need.  With offices located in Iola, Erie and Fort Scott,   KS, we are here to help answer your questions about Lawn & Gardens, 4-H & Youth Development, Crops & Livestock, and Health & Nutrition.

Have a specific horticulture problem? You may bring soil, turf, weed and insect samples to our office for evaluation. Suggested treatments or solutions will be provided.

Livestock Field Day
Fort Scott – Southeast Kansas Cattlemen will converge on the Doug Eden farm near Fort Scott, Kansas on Thursday September 4th at 5:30 P.M. for a livestock field Day. The evening will begin on the south side of US highway 54 approximately .8 miles east of 95th Street or 1.2 miles west of 115th St. Field day signs will be posted.
Tour topics will include livestock impact on water quality and water quality impacts in livestock, planting endophyte free fescue, exclusion fences for farm ponds, below pond watering systems and limited access watering facilities for cattle.
Speakers for the evening will include Christopher Petty, Livestock Production & Forage Management, Southwind Extension District; Doug Eden, Livestock Producer and Tour Site Host; Bob Love, Marmaton WRAPS Chairman and Herschel George, Watershed Specialist with K-State Research and Extension.
The event is a partnership between the Marmaton WRAPS, K-State research and Extension and the Bourbon County Conservation District.

A light meal will be provided courtesy of Ag. Choice of Hepler, Kansas.  Please bring your lawn chair and be prepared to walk through a pasture. Call (620)-756-1000 by September 2nd and ask for Kara to register.
